Default Do I really need an SAFC?

I've had my car for about 6 months now. It came with a small ported 16g, fpr, rewired fuel pump, and stock injectors. The car blows a little black smoke between shifts under heavy acceleration. I think its fuel related because the car doesnt lose/burn much oil. Would a fuel pump/ 550's/ SAFC be very beneficial for me? is the afc difficult to work with? What method of tuning is the best? The car pulls hard now and is quite reliable. I dont want to spend a bunch of money and time if the gains are going to be minimal.
thanks, Andy

wait....you dont have a fuel pump yet?

Then yes, fuel pump, afc, 550cc's and datalogger and you should have a nice set up. Might also want to look into a 2g mas or a mass translator.

I use afc and a datalogger for all of my tunning, but again...I have no huge set up on mine..just the normal dsm with a few mods.

I would get the pump, injectors and afc but not the 2g mas. Its a waste of money. Just hack your stock one. What kind of exhaust do you have.

I was hitting fuel cut often with a 14b, afc, and tunned with a hacked 1g mas. I was very happy with the results in getting the 2g mas. The 2g mas flows 24 to 25% more air.

I've got an Al Blaha hacked MAS and a 3" exhaust. I never hit fuel cut. I just dont want to spend a lot of time and money if its not necessary. Am I doing anything dangerous with my current setup (MBC at 14)

Thats because you didnt open it up. I ran a T3/T4 60 trim with a 75 shot using a 1g mas and never seen fuel cut. My mas was done by Jerry which is basicaly a AlBlaha mas. Just remember a 1g mas has gone 10`s and a 2g mas has not. Converting to a 2g mas is such a waste of money.

I didn't realize the potential of the 1g MAS..Mine must have been done incorrectly. I still have my 1g around maybe I should take a look at yours or go up and see what jerry can do for me. How much more air does a opend up 1g mas flow over a stock 2g mas? Maybe I should just leave it be because its running fine now.

If you have already spent the money on a 2g mas i would leave it. I`m not saying swapping to a 2g mas is bad, its just money that could be spent somewhere else. I`ll show you what a super hack stage III jerry mas looks like sometime. I dont know flow numbers i just know it works great at full throttle and my car would idle right at 750 with no surge with it.

I didn't think the 2g mas was too expensive($80), but a 1g hacked correctly would have been free.
