[h=2]IMSA: Psst, want to buy a Mazda Prototype?[/h] Thursday, 24 November 2016

Marshall Pruett (words & images)

These three beauties from Mazda have been meticulously maintained, were only driven on the weekends and are priced to sell!
Ignore the used-car salesman routine and ask Santa Claus for a gift that will surely fill the entire living room with one of the three Lola/Multimatic-built Mazda Prototypes entered by SpeedSource Race Engineering from 2014-'16 in IMSA's WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

Chassis numbers MM07 and MM08 were used to open Mazda's diesel-powered campaign during IMSA's relaunch in 2014, and of the two, MM07 was carried forward as the No. 70 car using the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gas-fed engine through the recent season finale at Petit Le Mans.
http://www.racer.com/images/2016/Nov..._Status_GP.jpgMM08 was taken offline after SpeedSource owner/driver Sylvain Tremblay was involved in a hard crash at Road America in 2014. The chassis – the last Lola ever built – was duly repaired by Multimatic and has served as a race-prepped spare.
The third chassis, HU06, was purchased in the wake of the Road America crash and was used as the No. 55 car through Petit Le Mans. Purchased from Status GP, it's the only one of the three Mazda Prototypes for sale with race history at the 24 Hours of Le Mans (left).
It was also used for testing Mazda's new gas-turbo during 2015 and earned the brand's first pole position in IMSA's Prototype class.
According to Tremblay, MM07, MM08 and HU06 can be acquired in race-ready form, minus 2.0L turbo engines (those are being used with the new Mazda RT24-P Daytona Prototype internationals) for between $200,000 and $250,000 apiece.
