Rebuild
My car needs a rebuild, it still running but is getting harder to start when is cold and it stalls when I drive it with the AC on. Maztech charges me $2,700 fo a rebuild, if I bring the engine it will be cheaper. I can rebuild the car myself I have the money and time, because I work on weekends only. The only thing is that I don't have the space to do the job or an engine hoist. Are there any places where I can rent space to do the rebuild? I like the car and would not wish to sell it and having to go thru the hassle of finding a car that has been well taken care of. I mean have you seen the price of cars lately old cars been sold fo alot of money, cars with no AC or rear seats and the paint is fading away. How long will it take to rebuild the engine? I want to learn to rebuild the rotary.
Thanks for listening

$2700 is a total rip off. Pull it out yourself, it will take at least 2days to pull it if you've never done it b4. Here is a link, a total rebuild cost for a 86-88 13b 6port is $521.XX plus tax and shipping ( http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=395019 ). It would be alittle more money for an s5, about $50 or so. I advise if you do get this buy the rebuild video from Rotaryaviation.com it is better than the atkins video. Rotary engines are 100x easier to rebuild than a Piston motor IMO, it can be done in one day if you don't intend on porting the intake and exhaust which I advise you do. It's an extra 30-40hp over stock but to actually get most of the power you'd need better exhaust (If you don't already have it) and an safc to help the fuel control. I have 2 550cc injectors for sale if you want them, 4-550's are good up to 300hp at max duty cycle (which ofcourse you'd never do), so 2 460's and 2 550's would be plenty for 180-190hp. You'd probably want a TII fuel pump too, I have one for sale along with the 2-550's if you want them.
P.S the injectors I have are high imp. so they would work fine with your s5 engine harness.

$521.00 WoW! Most mechanics buy the rebuild kit from Mazda which is $1000.00. That $521.00 total do you buy it from one web site or as a combination of different parts from different web sites? I know I can do this, but I don't have any space to do it or an engine hoist. I also heard that you need special Mazda tools for the rebuild is this true? I don't feel like buying a new car and have to sell this one. The price of used cars keeps going up and is hard to find a used car in decent condition. When I got my 7 is was all dirty, I cleaned it and got it painted. I was also planning on getting convertible rims. I will see if I can post some pics of it, thank you for the info.
Rotary Aviation has the kit cheap. Have you used the $521.XX kit to rebuild your car? If so, does the kit works? What I mean by this question, if the kit is not a rip off and will it last long if you take care of the car?
