Wanna Race Me? The Dover Rod Run is including a Pinewood Derby on Saturday 28. The last one included totally free food and drinks. This time, toss in a free laid back Bluegrass concert under the trees in a park-like atmosphere. Bring a chair. last time imports included a handful of VW's and my humble Honda. Guess who got best Honda? LOL -Bob First Baptist Church Of Dover 3223 Gallagher Road Dover Fl 33527 |
A bit about the Diver Rod Run-Bob
First Baptist Church Cookout and Bluegrass Jam by Central Florida Bluegrass Assn. Free admission. 3PM-7PM 3223 N. Gallagher Road Dover/Hillsborough County. 1/4 mile North of Martin Luther King Blvd..............don't ask how I know that distance..... details: 813-719-2273 or firstbaptistdover dot org Dover Rod Run The Dover Rod Run is a car show that is scheduled three times during the year (January, April, and October). While our church hosts, staffs and organizes this event, most of those attending are from the community. This gives us an opportunity to provide an event that enables our community to be on our church campus, interact with our church family and learn about our church ministries in a relaxed and safe environment. Each one who attends is encouraged to register their attendance and indicate their interest in receiving more information about our church. Volunteers involved in this event set up tents, grill food, serve in the food line, register vehicle participants, provide registration cards for those attending and work the clean up detail. The individuals organizing this event welcome those volunteering to help. Your voluntary involvement can be ongoing or periodic. |
Last time......-Bob
The Dover Rod Run was one heck of an event! ...and it was not all Hot Rods. EVERYTHING WAS FREE! I had never been there before... Imagine the huge parking lot at USF where meets are held. Imagine it packed with Hot Rods and cars, trucks and dune buggies of all kinds. Imagine the whole area under trees with shade and lots of green grass. There were four 6-foot long gas powered grills cooking hamburgers, polish sausages, and hot dogs that were passed out in two food serving lines. The cold drink trailer was 8 feet by 16 feet and had 15 iced down very large coolers. The laid back Blue Grass music was quite a change from the WFLZ-type music that is heard at the import meets. In the import car class there were five VW's and one humble Honda. I can claim first place for "Best Honda"......... an easy win for me....... From there I went to Plant City's Bike Fest. There were about 3,000 motorcycles according to the cops, 83 of which entered the bike show. The Rock and Roll bands were Recoil and Jaded. Those folks held a Bikers Dog Look-alike contest, and a Daisy Dukes contest. along with the custom bike show. In the South Parking lot was a motorcycle stunt and thrill show that did three performances during the night. When the show broke up there was one heck of an after party held at Cowboys Steak House until who knows what hour..... This was great folks. Wish you could have been there.-Bob |

Plant City is on the first Saturday each month.-Bob Now that I think about it, This might be something to take the rest of the Seffner/Brandon meet people to. I had a good time at the last one. The food was good. Music was good. Cars were good. There was no drama and no negative behavior. The church only does three per year, anyway.-Bob Ill make sure to bring it up tomorrow at the meet....NI_racing https://www.tamparacing.com/forums/a...n-img_0516.jpghttps://www.tamparacing.com/forums/a...n-img_0524.jpghttps://www.tamparacing.com/forums/a...n-img_0560.jpghttps://www.tamparacing.com/forums/a...n-img_0572.jpghttps://www.tamparacing.com/forums/a...n-img_0545.jpg https://www.tamparacing.com/forums/s...pic66745_6.gif [h=2]Thanks for posting up the pics[/h] NI, Thanks for posting up the pics. For those who asked where they could get a pinewood derby car,
It's my understanding that Lowes sells the kit (including tires) and also places where Boy Scout supplies are sold. It comes as a block of wood which you can shape into anything that you want.-Bob |
