1jz-gte lexus sc300 swap pt. 2
1jz-gte lexus sc300 swap pt. 2
Well in part 1, We removed the engine and prepared the car for the installation of the 1jz, but before that we'll have to prepare the 1jz for the car
So here we are with the arrival of our toyota soarer 1jz-gte inline 6, 2500cc (2.5l) twin turbocharged engine along with the r154 transmission. ( for those of us who are unfamiliar with this engine)
First thing we'll do is extend the wiring harness, change the oil, spark plugs aged ignition coil pack clips, install new motor mounts (rubber), rear main seal, perform a compression test and make sure everything is within tolerance before installation ( while we have it out )
this is how the engine came, it's pretty neat trick but we'll replace them
Now that the engine is ready it's time for installation.
It's in !!
The car is running at this point, as you can see the wiring and the cooling system are both completed. It's now time for the charge cooling (intercooler) system which we will be addressing next.
Now the intercooler system. ic=24x12x3 2.75" pipping.
In this stage the intercooler pipping is tricky, there's alot of tweaking that needs too be done. My recommendation is if you can use 2.75" pipping it will make things easier. The 3" inch we used on the 2jz swap was necessary due the power levels that we wanted to achieve but was somewhat harder.
Now we'll install the front bumper, headlights ,charge pipe etc. etc.
Looking like factory
A finish product!

Hello sir, I am not new to the lexus/toyota scene. I just purchased a 1997 red sc300 auto and I would like the 1jzgtte turbo swap. I am sticking with the auto on this one I have a 95 6 speed acura legend coupe i can row gears on. How much for the swap please? I am going to buy a front clip if you think that is what I need or will I need just the engine and tranny with the ecu and ignitors. I know thats a little cheaper than the clip. I have a jdm vendor that has e-mailed me on the price of the clip. The engine tranny combo is half.
I am in Iraq and would have my wife and son bring the car to you and have the engine and tranny shipped to you if we decide to go with that. Also during the process I would like for you to take pics for me please. I wont be back until Feb or March of next year. Your sight is informative and I hope your reputation precedes you. I am an Apache Helo mechanic and have been working on Toyo/Lexus since the 80's. I will talk with you soon.
