Yes they are used for any and all applications...Information on here is limited as no one here needs to make a living off drag racing so we never experience an air shifted tranny...There are a couple different models for all drivetrains but most are used in Rear Wheel Drive Drag Cars...

I believe one of the manufacturers is called Jericho or something like that...Yeah I've only seen them in drag cars like the Rosado Racing Corolla, the Sard Racing SC400, and the Escort 300zx

air shifters require a ratchet or sequential shift transmission. they're primarily for drag racing in a "semi-automatic" configuration and normally they're only designed to upshift.
i've seen some air shift setups on street bikes tho.
