Andretti Autosport wasn't trying to hide anything from anyone in the IndyCar paddock, it just chose to test by itself at Sebring on Wednesday for a couple reasons.
"With 16 cars running on Tuesday, we figured the racetrack was going to be pretty crowded and we wanted to practice pit stops and get as many clean laps as possible and, all in all, it was a good day and we got a lot done," said Rob Edwards, team manager for Andretti. "And from Honda's point of view it gave them another day of development, so it worked out quite well.

Alexander Rossi's lap of 51.64-second lap led his teammates as Marco Andretti turned 51.72, Ryan Hunter-Reay (pictured) 51.79 and Takuma Sato clocked 52.16. Scott Dixon led Tuesday's test at 51.13 in his Honda.
"You can win the Grand Prix of Sebring and it doesn't mean a thing when you get to St. Pete or Long Beach but I think we learned a lot," said Edwards. "Testing is very limited so you've got to make the most of each day and we made quite a few changes over the winter so it was a chance to get to know each other a little better and get ready for the season opener."

Joining Andretti was Schmidt Peterson Motorsports, which gave Robert Wickens, Pipo Derani and Luis Michael Dorrbecker their first chances in an Indy car. Former Atlantic star Wickens, now a rising star in the DTM series, led the way in his return to open-wheel with a best lap of 52.41 in the afternoon session, while sports car ace Derani turned a 52.69 in the morning and Auto GP champ Dorrbecker (below) ran a 53.64.
