Are you talking about a single layer aftermarket gasket like the Mugen or only runnning one layer of the stock gasket?

If you run the single layer stock gasket you need to use copper spray and your chances of blowing it will increse. The good news is you'll have the other two layers to replace it with when it blows.

BTW I have only run the two layer job on my car, I don't think the added compression of the one layer justifies the pain in the ass of blowing a head gasket. I'd just run the two layer stock gasket setup and take an extra .005 off the head.

depends...if you blow it slightly but not like all the way, you can leak coolant and oil and overheat the engine and lock it up, if you blow it totally, you will lose just about all compression and probably not be able to start it

if you want high comp. then do it safely replace the pistons with ones that offer a higher comp. the thinner you get the head gasket the more chance you have to fu%k something up trust me i know from expirence

Spoon Sports makes both singal and dual layer head gaskets. Not sure about the B series but I've talked to a few guys who have the single layer head gasket on their h series and I've yet to hear any horror stories or any complaints. I ordered one for the jdm h22a I'm building up, R&D has them in stock if your interested.
