motor question
ok this is gonna sound really dumb but whatever. my friend has a 91 ls motor that knocked before he took it out. i know that it could be a bad rod or maybe a blown bearing? what else could it be? also anything that could cause a knock, could make the block bad? any info or opinions would be great, im think of using the block and just wanna make sure its not messed up.

HEY IF THE VALVES KNOCKED IN THE ENGINE BEFORE DOESN'T MEAN THAT THE ENGINE IS MESSED UP. HERE ARE A FEW REASONS OR THINGS IT COULD BE OR DO.1) CHECK THE OIL IN THE ENGINE IT COULD BE AS SIMPLE AS THAT LOW OIL LEVEL IN IT COULD CAUSE THAT.2) THE VALVES NEED ADJUSTMENT TO DO IT YOUR SELF IT'S A PAIN IN THE BUTT.3)THE REST OF THE ENGINE IS FINE NO PROBLEM WITH IT THERE SHOULDN'T BE ANY THING ELSE.STILLAN TYPE R
what about a bad rod? or a spun bearing? is there anyway i can tell if the bearing is bad and if the block is still good? im asking this be cause in getting the motor and cheap and wanna make sure the block is good. all help is appreciated.

thanks, one last dumbass question...my friend said a block can never "be bad" my question is what can happed to a block to make it non functional. thanks for the advice and help guys.

it could have a hole in it if he thru a rod ...but other than that a block cant really go bad ...then again if he spun a main bearing...then you would have to give it a lineboring<--think thats whats its called...but yea thats it...

he said he didnt throw a bearing, or a rod..if thats the case the block should be a-ok? thanks for your help guys
