Default Fluctuating idle suks

Hey, got a '90 Accord w/a 2.2 sohc. My idle jumps between 1500-2000 constantly. 1500,2000,1500,2000. Its annoying the hell outta me. I have personally seen a 91 civic dx and a 88 Prelude do the EXACT SAME THING, so I hoped someone on this forum is familiar with this situation. There is no check engine light, and the car runs perfect. Just idles like shit. I am thinking its the idle speed motor (idle air motor) or maybe TPS. Help me out! Thanks.

just a thought, you can't quote me on this either, it might be a problem with the tps as well, throttle positioning sensor....just my guess...

Hey, thanks for the quick replies. I will clean out my TB and see what that does. Hell, if theres carbon built up in there that would screw with the TPS range of motion, making it jump or stick...Hmmm.

Tons of potential causes.
Best bet is to pick up a vacuum gauge and diagnose the problem from the needle readings. If I had to make a guess though I'd say you've got a simple vacuum leak.

pull the iacv and clean the screens, and on some tb's there is a small idle screw also that you can adjust.

heres what hondata says about it...
