cams making engine louder????

Default cams making engine louder????

Would running a bigger cam in a non-vtec motor make the car any louder??? I have heard big cams on a vtec motor scream, but i never heard any thing on a non-vtec motor...just wondering...thanks in advance...

Hey Ronin.....did u put a block girdle in your bottom end in order to rev it up that high??..Everyone is saying the bottom end on the ls won't take it, but i have the 404's and Brian Crower personally told me that they will pull hard to 8500 rpm...my bottom end has less than 4,000 miles on it , all new bearings,type r oil pump, type r pistons, arp rod bolts, etc....what do u think?...thanks in advance...

no, i have no block girdle. we rebuilt with all forged internals. the eagle rods come with new torque specs. i wouldn't want to try it with a b18b with 60k on it if it wasn't rebuilt.
404's???? what do you idle at? i assume you are talking ls. did you buy those from mike?
it was hard enough to get 403's to idle, and thats at 1k, drops to about 600 during the day (thank you florida summer).

i have taken mine 9k many times, but not on a regular basis. with the blower the was no point in it. all motor i don't know, we have not gone back to re-tune. but that is to say alo that i don't drive around that high.
but i can tell you i've had the ohondata and my cams for over a year (15 mos), no problems, mechanically anyway. at the track i would shift 8500, and leave it in third until i hit the traps right around 8700 (103)

oh yeah, and don't listen to brian, all he wants to do is sell billet cranks to everyone. i have a long story about talking to him, he's just a salesman. i went around with him on my first cam setup, and we all know what joe went through.
my advice is stay away from crower vtec cams, and don't listen to brian.

i don't know about the idle yet..cuz they are sitting here on my floor....car is being fixed at body shop...i hope i can get them to run well.. kenji has my ecu now i'm having the rev limit removed, i will run the rev limit on my msd that way i can adjust it..i have an all new bottom end i hope it will be allright....i won't live at 9,000 but it would be pretty sweet every once and a while....i think my car is gonna surprise alot of people....i wanna sneak up in the Type R dyno day and let everyone know that an ls motor isn't a joke..an ls at 9,000 would b a funny sight to see....well i'll know in a couple of weeks....thanks all.....

kenji does not exist...

an ls motor is not a joke, only when its stock, and then it still does very well what it was designed for... but you might want to do something about those long gears.

gsr tranny is in the works actually......what times do u think i will se outta my setup?????What do u mean by kenji doesn't exist???i hope he exists cuz he has my ecu......I'm also trying to decide if i want to jet the nitrous back down to 60 or 70........to much stuff to decide......

If you look at the big picture if your going to make something all motor the ls motor no non vtec anyway is the way to go. It can run a bigger came lobe the whole time, Like the v8 guys do. Instead of having a sissy cam lobe down low and a big one up top.

I migh take up a vtec killer project some time in the future. But thats just a thought and i have tomany of those already.
