Default Help on setup my Rebuilt D16z6

Hello,

I just rebuilt my D16Z6 with P29 piston. I have running right now for about 500 miles on it but I will like to know what type of spark plug (model or number from NGK) are required for this setup, and also the degree on the timing to prevent knocking. The car is running right know on premium fuel and the stock D16Z6 spark plug but the color of the spark plug are really brick red and I don't know if that is normal or not. And about 3K RPM I have some knocking on partial open throttle, but on WOT will disappear.

Please help with this setup. This car 95 Civic EX is my daily driving car and I will like to have it running smooth and with power.

Thanks for the HELP!!

I replace the spark plug with a cold ones and the knocking disappear, But I still need to know the timing position recommended for that tuning, and if you add more fuel pressure how much, I have a Fuel pressure regulator and the gauge, it is on 32PSI.

If you put a aftermarket cam witch one do you recommend. But I know many D16Z6 with P29 piston running stock with out any problems at all. Just need to know the right setting. (spark plug, timing and fuel pressure)

Please advise. Thanks!

well first, what's good fuel pressure look like? about 35-40psi isn't it? that being said, when you don't have enough fuel you're lean, which makes heat.

second, there's no straight answer, or science to cam or ign. timing. it's a guess and check thing, because it's never exactly the same. not familiar with p29s, but are they out of a z6? if not, get specs on piston height, as i know that putting a z6 cam gear/y8 head on z6 block causes timing issues. also, was the block decked/head surfaced?

also can cause change in timing, resulting inthe need for a cam wheel

I finally set up the car, adjust the time, valves and put a premium gas and that's it. The car is running strong, has a lot of power compared with the stock D16z6. But I'm planing to put on a camshaft ZEX 59100 because I feel that the engine has a lot more power on high RPM that need to be unleash.

But right now is running perfect the engine pass the 1K miles with put any issue.
