Can you paint......

I was wondering if the sideskirts on a 99 civic hatch CX can be painted? I know they are not smooth. They have sort of a rough feel to them. Dont get me wrong..... I DONT WANT IT TO LOOK GHETTO or RICEY!!! If not then is the wheel base the same for hatchbacks and coupes so that I can purchase the paintable side-skirts? Thankyou for any replies!!!

Ive seen painted ones that have turned out horribly. I think the key to the good looking ones is sanding them down so that they are smooth and finding a substance that will bond the paint to the plastic. You could always purchase some Si side skirts from honda if youve got the cash and a red or black car...

My best friend has a 96 EX sedan....he has his side skirts painted.....they look fine....paint hasnt chipped or anything.....it can definately be done....Ive seen lots of Civics and Integras with it done and it looks nice. Just make sure to take them somewhere that knows what they are doing.

i painted my stock ones on my accord and they turned out fine just sand em down and take your time painting the skirts and use lots of clear.

Just got mine painted and they came just fine.. Makes the car look much cleaner ease to wash and you dont have that dried out plastic look.

Meguires Back to Black will take care of that dried out plastic look with one wipe of the stuff.....I use it on my Integra...and they come out black as can be and nice and shiny.
