Is there any reason for there being a hole cut on each side of this head of a b16a2 motor in between the cams on each end in the middle of the motor? Oil flow or something? I can tell it isnt original Im guessing it was dremel'd out but im not sure what for.
Anyone know what the deal is? Thanks guys.
Also if anyone is parting a head out i need the cam cover thing thats all the way to the left for the exhaust cam. Mine broke/stripped for some reason pulling the valve cover off.

^ No crack. Its in great shape.
The original owner i bought it from ran spray on it and did a few things to it. I just dont want to keep running and bothering him about shit when i can come here.
Im guessing its for better oil flow or something. At first i thought i was missing a piece of the motor but then i realized it was done to both sides and the other side looked like it was done a little better. Just trying to see what the reason is for this.

 

Pics would help alot..Ive built quite a few motors and have never cut holes in the head.

Ill try and get u guys some pics. just wanna make sure its all good before I get this motor back in. It was smoking a litttle so Im doing rings and a head gasket and getting it machined and whatnot. Ill see what happens.

 

maybe they tried to tap the head for ls/vtec and didnt know what the fuck they were doing.
