no fuel pump power, no start
 

Ok, I have a 95 Civic, went to go start it after driving one night and it did not start, it turns over though. I immediately thought it was the main relay because the fuel pump was not priming and the check engine light was staying on and not going off. Also I am not hearing or feeling any clicks from the main relay, all grounds were checked. Well after some testing this is what I have done.

1. Replace main relay - Same problem
2. Tried a known good ECU - Same problem
3. Swapped out a known good fuel pump - Same problem
4. Lastly I opened the ignition switch and this is what I found

I dont think the contacts should look like this, like the silver is all worn off on the large contacts that might be cause the main relay not to get power to prime the pump?

If the ign switch is bad in the on position, it isn't going to send power to anything, including the relay. Is everything lighting up, beeping and buzzing when the key is turned to the on position? If so, you know power is passing through the ignition switch.

i had this problem.....itl crank but it wont start correct mike? and i bet your cluster doesnt want to light up when u turn the key on, but your radio will. just find the electrical part of the switch from a junk yard. youll be good as new. uve pretty much ruled out everything else.

If you have power everywhere else including the cluster than look elsewhere.

those contact look good. Ive seen others that look worse and still function. point another direction to solve your problem.

yup all my dash lights light up, but the CEL never goes off, I am so confused I've tried everything but powering the fuel pump directly to the battery

If everything is lighting up, trace the problem from the key switch to the main relay. If the hot wire to the relay is hot in the on position, the probem is from the relay to the fuel pump.

If the relay has power but isn't clicking/switching, it's the relay. If it clicks, and the wire running to the fuel pump tests hot the moment it clicks, the relay is good.

Then check the hot wire running to the fuel pump and the ground at the pump. Then check the fuel pump.

It is a process of elimination.

you need to check when you turn the ignition switch to the on position and it primes the fuel pump then during the time frame check for power at the fuel pump if it has power then maybe the fuel pump is not grounded out or the pump is bad. but if it doesnt have power when the pump should be priming then check before there. like the fuse for the fuel pump or the relay. check for any blow fuses under the dash or under the hood. also do you have a alarm??

Did you pull the code?

ecu fuse in the engine bay??

He checkd and replaced all these things

The next step is to get the code that the ECU is throwing and troubleshoot that, that code could be your problem, the CEL does not go off because there is a problem.

It it doesnt seem that it is a fuse problem. The ECU fuse under the hood being blown would not allow the code to stay in memory once the key is pulled out. Meaning that the CEL will go off ofter he connects the car once again. So that fuse must be good for the memory to hold
