p06 converted/ vtec 6.5k rev limit?

i got a 95 hatch w/ d16y8 and p06. my revs max at 6500. ive tried two diff virgin p28s and a converted p06 w/ phearable chip (d16y8 maps) 4k launch and 7200 rev(which i currently run). still only does 6500. lauch works fine. all three rev to 6500. no check engine lights, no hesitation, starts up fine. any help greatly appreciated.

car is a dx wired for vtec by previous owner. just checked wiring and a4 to vtec solenoid and d6 to oil pressure, so wiring is good. oil pressure is grounded at vtec solenoid w/ a good ground.

Sounds like your tach maybe off. I have seen this on several vehicles.
Is the vehicle throwing any check engine lights ?

does the vtec oil pressure sensor run reverse polarity? the wires in the clip do not match all wiring describe in any write ups i see. could that be it? or would it throw cel?

Follow the diagrams on Phearable.net - Electronic Fuel Injection Tuning Solutions - Hondata, Neptune, Crome, Uberdata, Ectune, AEM, Honda Tuning, Widebands, Fuel Pumps, Intercoolers, Turbos, LS/VTEC, ECU Chipping, Chipped Ecus, P28

It would usually throw a cel if it was not functioning properly.
