Hey
I have a b16a1 in a CRX and my tranny sucks. It is the tranny that came with the engine. It always grinds 3rd gear during normal shifting and all the other gears during speed/power shifting. Its the most annoying thing in the world. I want a new tranny. Does anyone know what type of tranny i should go with. I want to get a better/higher performing tranny but i dont know which trannys are compatible with the b16a1. Thanks Mike.

go with a y1 tranny most of them come with lsd but you should check for it anyway people like to sell the lsd seprete and sell the tranny as a lsd tranny

One more thing...whatsup with LS trannys? Do they fit a b16a1? And why would someone get a LS tranny rather than the Y1?

thanks
Mike.

Also keep in mind that the y1 tranny is just as old as your tranny on your car plus or minus a year or two. B16a1 trannys came as either y1(civic/crx sir) or s1/j1(Integra Xsi). So just because you change out the tranny does not mean it wont also grind just as bad. You might want to look into getting the 92-93 usdm gsr tranny (forgot code) they are a bit newer and are geared well for NA. Since its usdm you can also buy a replacement third gear and syncro set (expensive). If you havent already try using Honda MTF fluid it helped out my bad third gear a bit. HTH

Yes they fit a b16a1 they are geared well for forced induction.
