Default help me out!

hey,

i got a screeching sound that sounds like the belt.

it only comes when i start the car and have the a/c on. when i turn off the a/c the screeching stops... or when it warms up it stops... do i need a new belt?

The belt would be a nice way to start. But remember, A/C on or off the belt still turns. If it always stops when it warms up then start w/ the belt.

when you engage the compressor then it puts more load on the belt. Sounds like the belt is worn or the pulley could be glazed causing the belt to slip.

I concur with belt tightening.
You can tell by looking if the pulley is turning/not frozen up,
and it was frozen, the sound probably would not go away.-Bob

i would just tighten the belt.....it probibly needs to be replaced.....
it wouldn't be the compressor siesing up or it would squeek all the time w/ the a/c on......but try tightening the belt
