Default cracked oil pan

alright, My car shut off on me couple weeks ago and I got under it today to find the problem and my oil pan is cracked. I didn't hit anything but it just stopped working I didn't see any other problems externally, and I've been told I probably threw a rod. are there any other causes to crack it and how serious is it?

u probably bottomed out and didnt realize it, which in turn caused all of your oil to leak out, not good. start looking for a new motor

it's cracked at the top of the oil pan at the front end. and I was on a flat road when it happened but I don't remember any really loud noises when it happened, but either way you think I need a new motor?

its a new rsx correct?...still under warranty?...give it a shot if it is...cant hurt to try...especially if theres no physical damage to the oil pan ie bottoming out...

+1, i would def try to get it covered under warranty, provided there is no collision evidence.

however, unless they determine its a manufacturing defect, you will prob have to cover it...

and if it shut off cuz u had no oil, then i would agree wiht 99B16Si that its new motor time.

g/l tho

you had to have heard something before it went. Loud tick, knock etc.. rattle. Take into the dealer they will find out what happend excatly on the computer and when it happend and other criteras like over reved the motor etc.. most newer cars now atleast honda's and acuras have a drive recorder once triggerd and set to a trigger point and something that isn't into its specifications or doesn't pass certain enabled criteras it starts recording in I think 15 intervals before during and after the problem.
