So after all damn day with all the stupid little problems I ran into, (Hey it's my first time doing something this big leave me alone) I finally get the Head off. Now since this is my first time working with things like this, I'm posting up some pics so yall can help me to see what's good and what's not. I know some of the things but I don't know EXACTLY what to look for. Also, I'm going to be taking the head tomorrow to get it resurfaced. Anyways time for pics:

I don't know if both of the pistons are supposed to be up like that, but I did do the TDC right.....

 

wow i was just about to say it when i saw it did you take the 4cyl spark plug out cause it broke?if so there was you problem it would just kept fire to itsself and when thay resurface you need to replace thos valves on that on and cheap chamber

 

I was getting misfiring codes on the 3rd and 4th cylinders. And forgive me but I'm having a hard time understanding your sentence lol. What do you mean broke? The spark plug? The piston? What do I need to do to fix that then if that piston isn't supposed to be like that? Noob mechanic here!

 

it looks to me like where no carbon is the piston tapped the electrode and either broken it off or smashed it.




and as you can see from the picture that piston is alot darker from the all gas not fireing just getting wasted

 

Well the 4th piston was also about as dark as that one but some dirt got on it and I was wiping it with a towel so i cleaned it up a bit.

 

why was the spark plug taken out of that 4th only?where is the plug does it look damaged i hope the new rebuild goes good i got some gsr pistons for cheap or b16 if you want to get lil more out the motor if your going to rebuild

 

I'm not sure what you mean, I took all the plugs out to do the TDC. The 4th Cyclinder plug looks ok to me, the first one though was soaked from coolant, it was the color of oil but didn't smell anything like it, smelled more like coolant so I'm sure it was dirty. How hard is it to replace pistons? Like I said before I'm new to this big of a job so I'm not sure what I'm up against.

 

i think you might want someone to just come look at everything up close to help you out b4 you spend to much and it not be the problem

By the way, how much on average am I looking at to get the head resurfaced and a valve job done? I was thinking about getting a whole new head. I was looking at this, I know it's a bit pricey but everythings done on it....
