93 civic overheating!! help!!!

Hey all im having trouble with my 93 civic ex (auto) when i get on the highway after about 65mph- and up.... the car starts mad overheating..... then when i slow down.. it cools off?????? any thoughts???? can idle and drive around town all day and doesnt over heat just on the highway????

check thermostat, also check and make sure there is no water in the oil cause if there is u have a blown headgasket

if ur gonna check the thermostat you might as well change it. its like $11, and well worth it.

make sure the coolant is topped off.

like hondachris said, make sure your HG is good.

let us know what happens.

and for 3 dollars more, u can buy a low-temp thermo. might as well upgrade if ur gonna replace parts, imo. especially at that price. does ur engine smoke at all? sounds to me like u dont have enough coolant, and if it smokes u prob sprung a leak in one of ur hoses. if there's white smoke coming out of ur exhaust, then u've probably blown ur head gasket.

Some low temp t-stats open at lower temps, and are even stamped
as to what that temp is. Are you saying that both high temp and low temp t-stats for that particular car open at the same temp?
