Last Saturday I was cruising to South Tampa, in my eg. Fresh 4800 miles on my

LS engine in 8 months. When all the sudden I went through the downtown toll

and the check engine light went on and the engine shut off, I got out of the car

to see what happened and there was no timing belt anymore, and bits and

pieces of it shredded in the caseing, I had the car towed to Engine Lab and the car sat there for the entire week, they called me to let me

know that I either miss shifted or a rock got into the caseing and threw the belt

and you can bet what there next saying was, This is not covered under their

shitty 2 year 24,000 mile warranty. ( so if anyone knows a reputable head

shop LMK ) Engine Lab gave me a rough quote of $ 2,100.00 . FUC that no

more of that shit from them ( So all in all dont give the mutha fucker any of

your hard earned money .

OK, So why dont you time the cams and put a new belt on?
LS motors are Non-interference motors, meaning the valves cant hit the pistins.

 

not tru you break a belt most times you will fuck up a few valves.

 

true but not on a stocked piston ls with stock cams.all he needs to do is get another timeing belt 28bucks autozone clean out the old shit check the cam gears to make sure not warped and check the oil pump seal and should be good to go...

 

yes very tru, i am 50/50 on this i have a freind (integra from the boards) who snapped a t-belt and fixed it no problems, and another smoke3 from the bords who snapped one and bent valves, funny story about smoke3's car he call me hey can you help me, yeah no problem i am on my way i pull a u-trun and snap my t-belt ls/vtec my alt bracket broke and i had no lower timing covers, i broke my t-belt on the way to help him with his broken t-belt what are the odds.
