boost on ls motor
Yo, me and my boy just finished installing a t3 turbo in his 96 teg and I would like to know what would be the best psi to run on the motor. Its stock he just bolted it on for the hell of it. But we need to know what would be the best range in boost for an ls. If anyone has any idea where the car could perform good without blowing the mother fucker up.
If your friend doesnt want to blow up his motor he should look into engine management

Yeah, He bought the aem engine management for the car but the only thing wrong that they sent him the wrong one it fits a obd1 harness and his is obd2 so we wnt ahead and ordered the conversion harness and it will be here sometime next week. But overall if the ecu is tuned right he shouldn't have any problems with him blowing his motor.
id say about about 40psi.... Should be ok...

im running 10.5 on a 99 GS (LS motor) with stock internals no problems. You might want to aim for around 7 or so and gradually work it up if you are tunning it yourself.I wouldnt go anyhigher than 10 or 11 on stock internals and thats why I'm stuck where I'm at for a while.
Tuned properly if its small T3 I'd say 15psi or so should be fine depends on which on it is ..
13-14lbs is usually good on a LS motor with proper tunning with a SC34 or similar turbo .

Sounds good with the info on how many pounds of boost to run. But what I found out on his turbo is that he bought it used and he drove it for a week and the motherfucker started throwing white smoke out the exhaust. So he took the car to a shop over here in lakeland and they said that one off the seals in the turbo went bad. So he's pissed with the car and he doesn't know what if to buy a new one or rebuild the turbo. But thanks for the info and I'll keep you guys posted on our finishing touch on the boosted ls project.
