R.i.p. B16a

so a friend of mine and i were heading up to brooksville...I was getting on her quite a bit. shifted from 3rd to 4th (but didn't get it all the way into gear) let the clutch out floored it and this was the end result. I'm picking up an LS and plan on getting a B16 or a GSR head and doing a LS/VTEC. just figured i would share my bad luck with everyone.
here's the block and pistons

here's the head...or what's left of it

damn man... that sucks...

Zxc4 03-02-2006 06:12 PM

ouch, how many miles did you have on it?

turbocrx88 03-02-2006 07:27 PM

what rpm did you hit? did you have a rev limiter? i did this once in my ls/vtec setup. i hit 9500rpms and floated a valve

lzylst 03-02-2006 07:31 PM

my thought also - rev limit was set beyond factory redline .

Sorry to hear about your loss man.

It sux, but it also gives you reason to go bigger.

ewww ouch man

no rev limiter...definitly will have one on next engine. yes, it does give me a reason to go bigger. i have no idea what RPM it hit since my tach doesn't have memory. it had about 20,000 on it since last rebuild. there goes a set of 11.5:1 pistons. i guess you can say, i revved her til she popped.
