Default help! How do you get illegal window tint off?

I just got a Honda with window tint on the back defroster-equipped
window and I cannot see out. Can't see cars, can't see cops.

How do I get it off? Without killing the window defroster wires?
It appears to be in strips from side to side. Some strips overlap
the window defroster's wide-flat-wire *at* the sides,
and FOR SURE cover the skinny wires going from side to side.

Tried peeling up one corner. It leaves a milky haze worse than the tint.
I'm trying to avoid trimming it side to side with a razor blade for
each of 50 wires..........

I'm cleaning off the door glass once I do the back glass. I don't want to
have someone say that I couldn't see out and that's why I crashed.
................any ideas? Where can I find this in the archives?
Thanks.-Bob

you should have more than one layer to peel, then once only adhesive is left, use goo-gone. also, using a hair dryer wouldn't hurt.

Leave the car out in the blazing sun for an hour or so, Then use a razor blade and start at a top corner.
Peel the tint slow and at an angle, That will keep the tint in big strips while removing.
Once all of the tint is off, You can use Goo-Gone or just take some Windex with a razor blade and scrape just the glass until the glue is gone.
Just make sure you have a few blades handy.
After using 1 blade for 5 minutes w/ the glass cleaner, it'll get dull fast which will make the process turn difficult, Change blades and begin again.

Your last resort, Take it to a tint shop and let them do it, But expect a $35 charge if not more.

Good Luck
-Jeff

The last time I had to take tint off I'm going to pay someone to do it. I got goo-gone and all that stuff, but a tint place can usually do it for cheap. To take the tint off my CB7 at a tint place was $30. I paid them to do it because doing it myself in the sun wasn't worth it, but if you get off yourself big up to you.

There is a chemical sold in most auto stores. I forget the name of it, probably something like Tint-off. It's a blue chemical in a spray bottle and it is designed to cause a chemical reaction with the glue which breaks it down to the point it can be peeled away with a credit card. Don't use a razor over the defrost coils.

I had to use this to de-tint an accord I bought that had a DIY tint job on it that was bubbling. The spray saved my life damn near, it would have taken me forever otherwise.
