okay, the problem is that when i start to take off and i release the clutch in first gear the car starts to stutter, shake, rock back and forth , up and down and the check engine light blinks. the funny thing is when i press the clutch again it stops and the check engine light comes off. i even tried to rev it like at 4000 to 5000 rpm and let go slowly off of the clutch but the rpm needle would go straight down the the check engine light would appear. i tried to check for any codes but it won't let me because the check engine light would go on only at that moment. would anybody know what it could be?

Does the car shut off when the check engine light comes on? You have a problem with the powertrain, it could be a loose flywheel, throw out bearing, even a bad tranny.

 

yes, the car shuts off when the check engine light turns on. i guess i'll try to pull the tranny and check it out. thanks for your help guys.
