Default Fuel system...

Every once in a while,i go to start the car,and when i turn the ignition on i dont hear the fuel pump pressurize the system, then as i turn it over it wont fire...this doesnt happen often but its getting worse, used to be about twice a month and woulnt fire for about 10-15 min, then all of a sudden i hear the pump kick on then it starts...but yesterday i sat in a parking lot for 2 hours and nothing, came back after work 4 hours later turned the ignition on and it started right up...this is really getting fustraighting...i just had all my ground wires re-done...could it be a bad pump or the relay? if its the relay where could i find it on the car?(92 integra rs)..ive made a post about this before but never got a straight answer...so i guess ill try one more time before i go to a shop to check it out..but the problem is its not consistant so its hard to...not throwing any codes....anyone?-Greg

i would guess wires before relay...once a relay shorts out it's pretty much done for. however they are cheap so i would replace that first...assuming your wires have no shorts in them...also go in there and check the wire at the fuel pump...you will have to do this when it isn't working....if you can be so lucky, if power is going in before the relay and not going to to pump it's the relay if power is going to the pump and no pump action then you need to check the pump and make sure all wire connections are firm if still no luck replace it. also your ecu will remember if you turned the ignition on and then off (fuel is sent to engine) and will not send it again the next time you start up. you might have some trouble with that, i'm not sure how long the delay is but that might be other possibilities

ouch...mucho sucky...and yes... i assume that the pump has never been changed....which makes me lean more torwards the pump

EDIT: you can check the wire directly after the relay and go as far back as possible..but unless there is something that might touch the wire i wouldn't mess with checking stock wires. they don't normally crimp Look at all your major grounds first...aka trace the ground for the pump back to its orgin and make sure that bolt is on tight if it is then you need to check your positive signal...don't remove your back seat that its a bitch.

I would agree with Cronic on this. Eliminate the possibility of the relay first and save yourself the tracing headache. If you can't find the relay go to an autoparts store and buy a manual. If you don't want to spend the bucks on it then at least look in the manual while your there.

fuck that- find the relay, if it costs more than about $6, then rip the wires out of the back of that sucker, wire in a ford relay you can get at any auto-parts store, and youre good to go. for $6, yo really cant go wrong. if you really want to do this, pm me ill get you the harness to plug the relay into.
