Can you install an 88 Civic LX 5-speed tranny on a 91 Civic DX hatch?

Default Can you install an 88 Civic LX 5-speed tranny on a 91 Civic DX hatch?

Any help with this problem? Thanx for helping me installing this tranny. Luis in Orlando.

Hi Luis, u sure can. The lx tranny is cable actuated and so is the dx tranny. The lx tranny will fit to the d15 block in the dx. It shouldnt be any problem at all. Bolt the lx tranny on then hook up the tranny cable, and ur done. Of course make sure the flywheel, clutch disk, and pressure plate are all hooked up. U can use the dx or lx pressure plate, clutch disk, or flywheel...Since it is a d-series engine any d-series tranny will bolt up. But since the car is a older 91 dx the tranny would be cable operated..92 and newer civics use a hydrolic tranny actuator. Pm me if u need any help. Thanx

you might have to use the flywheel from the 88 to put on the 91.
