Default ecu programming

heres the deal, hondata s200b I don't want to spend the money for the pocketprogrammer and hondata says that as long as I get an eeprom burner that is compatible with their chips I am good.

I need to know what chip it is, I think I found the right one (at29c256) but need to check.

also how easy is it to program the chip outside of the hondata software is it a drag and drop since the eeprom is "flash" memory? or is it more?

I am looking at the willem programmers and I will just put it in a project box to protect the board. thanks for the help

You create a bin file to burn to the amtel eprom chip using your eprom burner & the eprom burner software.

Every time you want to modify the bin/aka chip you have to reburn the chip, which requires removing it & puting it on the eprom burner etc. (Your eprom chip must be the reprogrammable amtel version)

I highly recommend you just go to a tuner which programs hondata w/ the plug & play hondata programming software for your s200 setup.

yeah I looked at going to someone else, but for the money I'd rather spend a little extra and learn how to do it myself. I will be getting the hondalogger and romeditor to be able to do the tuning myself, and I have read the downloadable manuals from hondata on both and it seems fairly straight forward and easy.

I just wanted to know if I created a rom file in the romeditor and then transfered the file to the chip via the willem, how difficult would it be vs. just using the pocketprogrammer which is recommended by hondata.

Mod ecu myself, even added on board datalogging, just workin out some bugs with my datalog program

It is lame in the NPR/Hudson area, there are some crazy fast cars but no one comes out....we are on a "Racing" forum and all that comes to the hudson/mitchell rd. meets are like 4 cars that actually race, 32 spectators that follow everyone in there Geo's and 15 underage high school alcoholics.....

get with 60-ek1 I think he may have some insight into chipping, or do a search for uberdata. I already have hondata and I don't know of anywhere locally to get it, but I think some of the other ecu mods like uberdata, and turboedit are freebie downloads, not sure though.
