I been hearing alot of shit latey about turbo and superchargered cars.


How often do u have to tune a turbo car vs a supercharged car.

im hearing that because turbo has so many different varibles small change can throw something off.

is this true ?

what the average u would have to tune a turbo car in a yeah after a really good tune and no changes

 

I know for sure that turbo'd cars perform much differently in different weather... There are alot of things that play part in this... Temperature, Humidity, Barometric pressure/Elevation, Just to name a couple... Although, any good standalone can usually correct for this to an extent....

 

whenever you're fully tuned, whatever system you use should be able to compensate for small changes in weather. wouldn't worry about it.

 

both are forced induction so humidity, altitude, etc. is going to affect both. bolting on a new item, say, cams, is going to cause both to need to be tuned. both require a/f to be monitored and controlled, as well as timing, fuel pressure, oil pressure. the only difference is a supercharger is set at a psi and left so tuning fixes it on that point, turbo can vary boost on the fly so tuning has to take that into account.
as insanecivicsedan stated any good standalone will acount for this, hondata, I believe uberdata, aem ems, to name a few.

one thing to keep in mind is if you add either to your car and the car has not had a recent tune up ( normal tune up, like plugs cleaned and gapped, air filter replaced or cleaned, oil and filter change.) then when you tune you are tuning for a less than best engine and when you do those things later then you mess with the forced induction tune. do all the basic tune up stuff before the boosted tune up, and this is for either setup.

 

they previously touched on this but for the most part when you tune the car you want to keep everything consistent. If you change the plugs you i.e. temp or gapping, that can throw off your tune. I like to run the same gas from the same station. Maybe its in my head but thats me. Main thing man after its tuned dont fawk with things or let other people make, what they call, minor changes. Stupid ish like that can throw a monkey wrench in your whole tune.
