Default Surging IDLE - Fast Idle Thermo Valve SOLVED

I am having the surging idle problem with my car, goes from 1000 to 2000 RPM all the time. Found out it is the Fast Idle Thermo Valve - which I don't really need cause we live in Fl. My question is..

What TB can I purchase for my engine that will get rid of this valve? I think the JDM ITR TB does not have the FITV, right?

Would it be a direct bolt on? I have a 94 GSR engine basically.

Would any of the BBK or Spoon TB's work as well? Do these aftermarket TBs have a mount for the FITV that you must use?

Since I am going to have to take off the TB anyway and bypass the FITV - might as well get a larger TB - my car will respond well to a larger bore size... The JDM ITR TB is 67mm, good enough - or should I go to 70mm?

I found a 1996 JDM ITR TB for a good price and need to know if it will work and if it is worth it..

Anyone have an easy solution to get rid of the FITV??

take off the TB

look at the Fast Idle and the gold plate

remove 2 screw holding plate in place

then you will see a giant white looks nylon head

get a flat head and screw it all the way down

button things up and see if that helps

i had the same prob. when i took the plate off, the thing was not even screwed in it was just flopping around inside. i screwed it in as much as i could and now it still does it but when the motor warms up it goes away. i dunno what else to do to fix it but i guess im just gonna leave it like it is since my new motor will hopefully be going in soon.

watch out tho if you take the plate off, the bolts that were holding the plate on mine were crappy and both of them broke off before i got them out so i had to do some fixing.

Problem is FIXED for FREE!!!

I took off the throttle body, took the Fast Idle Thermo Valve and cleaned it with brake cleaner with a tooth brush. I also tighted down the white part (it was loose as hell) inside of the FITV. The TB was very dirty and I cleaned that as well. While I had everything apart I also took the IACV and cleaned it as well, it was a bit dirty. While I did all this I had the neg terminal of my battery disconnected to clear anything out. Put it all back together and it idles perfect!!

Later...
