Default 5th gear grinds

This is my 2nd Del Sol I've had, and for both of them, every time I shift into 5th gear, it grinds. Does anyone know why this is? It's not because I don't know how to drive, so please no smart remarks...thanks for whoever is willing to help.

Sounds like a bad syncro... Can't know for sure without seeing it... But, what rpm in 4th are you going into 5th that makes it grind, or is it always?

honestly if its the 2nd one you have had and it does the same thing...change your driving habbits. not being a dick but that seems to be the case. or just get a race tranny with double conned 1st through 5th.

I probably will just end up getting a new clutch....it always grinds no matter how fast I'm going, and all of the cars I've owned have been manual....never had a problem driving them (had a 94HB, and I have a 2000 Civic) so I don't think that's it Penis2.0, but it could be....I'm not saying I'm some professional driver or whatever, but I seriously don't think that's it...I was just wondering if there was a trick to 5th gear in Del Sol's. Thanks guys.

what kind of tranny fluid you using?
You will probably need to get a new 5th gear synchro

I guess I would say ...you should feel lucky...My third gear is F*cked and it sucks really bad...I would much rather have a bad 5th gear.

At least it is fifth and not second or third. Try using Honda MTF if you are not already.

try buying mobil 10w30 motor oil for the tranny and a new shift linkage bushing from honda. it did the trick for my 3rd gear grind.

The type of car has nothing to do with the tranny problems.
