Default Swap Question

I know this has probably been asked a thousand times but, around how much would it cost me to do a complete b16a swap on a 91 integra ls? would it be cheaper to just swap the motor and keep the stock tranny and ecu? or does anybody know where i could get a complete integra motor from another 2nd gen teg for a good price. im asking cause i found a integra i want to get for cheap but im kinda iffy on how good the motor is and live to far away to have a mechanic check it out, plus i think i saw the check engine light on when i checked out the car. Thanks.

You can't use a ls ecu with a vtec motor
An ls transmission is garbage on a b16.

Pricing:
1300 for a b16a1 shipped
install anywhere from 500-1000

1. I recommend you do some homework about teggys. Go buy a helms manual and do some reading
2. Check the code it is throwing & diagnose it.

3. Check for abnormal amounts of exhaust smoke when you are driving the car hard...

if you still have the motor dont spoedn all that money get yourself typeR pistons, bore the block and by a 2000si vtec head and do yourself a lsvtec and keep your Ls ecu THAT YOU CAN USE ON YOUR VTEC motor and it will save you money and the ls tranny is good dont listen to anyone all bseries trannys are good cost about 800bucks for the whole thing

Thanks guys, i'll ask the guy and see if i can take it to a mechanic to get it checked out to see if theres anything majorly wrong with it and to see whats up with the check engine light. i was just seeing if it was cheap enough that if i got it and sold my car if i would have enough to do a swap on it with the money from selling my car. i knew the motor would be a little over a grand, i checked on them awhile ago, i just wasnt sure how much it would cost to swap it out.

The arguement about the ECU is that a LS ECU can be used on a VTEC motor with a activation switch of some sort i.e. a msd box or a regular old switch. But you are better off getting it reproggramed. Also i agree with rang, do it yourself and go lsvtec.
Take your time and do it right. Do a search on lsvtec and swaps before you start posting also go to google do a search. Good luck

Josh

b16 prices are going up, I'd probably go with the LS/VTEC combo as the Integras are heavier than their CRX bretheren. I've ridden in a 90 Integra with a b16 and it felt pretty much gutless while the same motor in a CRX feels nice and peppy. Just some food for thought.
