Default Anti-gun Hollywood knows nothing about gun safety

Anti-gun Hollywood knows nothing about gun safety, but ALWAYS has something to say
about taking guns away from people who need them to protect their family.

I recall anti-gun Robin Williams in a movie where he was a deranged car salesman,
pulled the slide back to eject a bullet from an AK47, and then removed the magazine,
leaving a live bullet inside the AK and ready to fire. Of course it was only a movie,
and Robin Williams....sometimes a comedian....was probably laughing inside about all the movie goers who would see that, imitate it and shoot someone in real life........giving one more statistic
for the anti-gun Hollywood crowd to use about how "awful" guns were.

Remember when Hollywood celebrities were telling us that if you owned a gun for protecting your family, you were more likely to shoot yourself or a family member?

Maybe Robin Williams was trying to make that come true. Remember when they told us that we should not own a gun because a criminal would take it away from you and shoot YOU with it? or really? How would he do that?
"Well he played a part in a movie, so he knows all about it". Sure.

Robin Williams is long dead anyway but his legacy of Hollywood types lieing to support disarming America (at least disarming the law-abiding) still lives on. Can you name Hollywood types who joined the NRA and supported stiffer penalties for armed criminals...or even ANY penalties for armed criminals?
Probably rarely if ever.

Or do they support disarming and defunding the police while living behind their own walls with armed security guards to protect themselves?

Hollywood types make their living in a pretend fantasy world anyway, using guns as props, but don't mind demonstrating unsafe practices in their own lives in front of the very people who bought movie tickets and made them billionaires.

Playing Russian roulette to pass the time?

Jon-Erik Hexum was a 26-year-old actor and model who starred in 80’s TV shows such as Voyagers and Cover Up.During filming for an episode of the series Cover Up Jon’s character was supposed to load .44 Magnum rounds into a handgun.

Jon was provided a working gun and blanks for the scene. There was a delay in filming and Jon was trying to pass time.

He unloaded all but one of the blanks from the handgun and spun the revolver cylinder. Simulating Russian roulette, he put the revolver to his temple and pulled the trigger.

Some blanks use paper wadding in the cartridge. Sometimes the wadding can be propelled with such force that it would damage anything close.

So, when Jon pulled the trigger, the paper wad in the round caused enough blunt force trauma to fracture his skull, causing massive hemorrhaging.

He was rushed to Beverly Hills Medical Center where he underwent surgery. Sadly, a few days after the incident, he was declared brain-dead.

What happened to Jon was a tragic accident, albeit one that could have been easily prevented.

First, if Jon had followed the most basic firearm safety principles, he would never have put the gun near his head to begin with.

And second, there should have been a professional armorer to ensure all firearms not in immediate use for scenes were unloaded and secured.

There is no doubt this tragedy could have been avoided.

The thing is Hollywood gets a lot of things wrong when it comes to guns in TV and movies.

Considering this, here are a few things that Hollywood shows that are completely wrong.

Trigger finger:Hollywood scenes with firearms often show actors with their fingers on the trigger. No matter what direction the gun is pointed you will often see a finger on the trigger.

Keeping the finger off the trigger became popular in firearm safety in the 1970s, so it’s not some new safety technique.

Anyone who has attended a basic firearms class knows that you keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot.

While it has been common in training for decades, Hollywood still gets it wrong.

Cup and saucer:

The “cup and saucer grip” is also called the “teacup grip,” and is the handgun grip seen in a lot of movies and shows.

This is when the shooter cups the pistol in their dominant hand and rests the bottom of the grip in their support hand.

This grip method was common in early revolver shooters, but as semi-auto handguns became popular the grip became obsolete.

Here’s the truth: the cup and saucer grip is ineffective for controlling recoil.

That’s because your weak hand cups your other hand, so your weak hand doesn't support the recoil.

Also, the cup and saucer method usually forces the shooter's hands apart. So, you have to reapply your grip for every shot.

Sideways grip:

The sideways grip is also called the “gangster.” Many people think it was made popular in 90’s movies.

But holding the gun sideways and shooting was seen as early as movies in the 1960s, when Marlon Brando held a gun sideways in the movie Rio.

In the 1990s, more movies and music videos used the sideways grip.

One of the reasons that more films used the sideway grip was that it allowed for a dramatic view of the actor’s face.

So, in the same frame, you could see the actor point a gun at the audience and see the expression on their face, which made the scene better in the eyes of the directors.

However, any legitimate shooter knows that if you use a sideways grip then the sights are ineffective.

So, while the grip might look cool it would be terrible in a real-life situation.

But why show something usefully true?

It’s plain to see that Hollywood knows very little regarding the proper use of firearms.

And sadly, even if the people in charge hire a firearms advisor, their advice is often not followed, or is simply ignored.

Default Florida: House Passes Constitutional Carry

Florida: House Passes Constitutional Carry

view the web version of this email

Today, the House voted 76-32 to pass House Bill 543, the constitutional carry bill. It will now go to the Senate for further consideration. Please contact your state senator and ask them to SUPPORT HB 543.

House Bill 543, constitutional carry, strengthens the right to self-defense in Florida by recognizing the right of any law-abiding adult who is at least 21-years-old and legally eligible to obtain a carry permit, to carry a handgun without first having to obtain government permission. This ensures that citizens have their right to self-defense without red tape, delays, or fees. It does not change who is eligible to obtain a carry permit. It also does not affect previously issued permits, and allows citizens who still wish to obtain a permit in order to carry in other states recognizing Florida’s permits, to do so.

Your NRA would like to thank lead sponsor Representative Chuck Brannan for bringing this important legislation and Speaker Paul Renner for his exceptional leadership through the process.

Again, please contact your state senator and ask them to SUPPORT HB 543.
