Hey Al
what were you using to watch your timing advance while using the timing tuner thingy? It was my impression that the timing tuner was altering the signal after the pcm... meaning it wouldn't show up on autotap... How did you know when the timing tuner was working or "on the fritz?" Does the scanmaster have a timing advance display? Wouldn't that be the same as the autotap though in regards to where it is getting the signal from?
Now since you have new programming in the computer for your advance, it should be easily viewable at all times. Makes much better sense instead of using a "band-aid" so to speak.

Thats exactly right Joey. With the TT you had to have faith that the TT was giving the correct timing. You had no verification that it was. With the new program you can see it with Atap or EFI live. I feel much better about this, obviously. And the TT gets it signal from the CPS and skews it one way or another befroe it hits the pcm. So if you get a 10 degrees offset from the CPS the computer will aslo have a 10 deg offset. But still show your normal timing.
I could tll the TT was messing up when I gave it gas and there was a huge backfire. Or the tach would go to 0. Timing was just random at that point. Very scary.:o

Yeah see I don't like that... I like to see what's going on, even more so if I'm going to be pushing more and more "air" into the motor... I'm getting to the point on my little project where I'm laying everything out, seeing how it is going to work and drawing up my wiring diagrams... Not having the tranny electronically controlled anymore is going to help a lot, but i still have the 2-step and transbrake to figure out with the juice. I was planning to just run with spray or not with spray under 2 tunes since I have LS1edit. I don't drive on the street much anymore so it will mainly stay on one tune unless I'm going for a longer ride or bracket racing.

The problem I see with the TT is you cant tell if it is working via monitoring. We know it works, because Al has proven it works. I never had a problem with it on my car. My nitrous did not work with or w/out the timing tuner. The problem could have been pcm tuning all the time. You have one device intercepting a signal and the other device waiting for a certain reading.. What Ramchargers should have done is made it work so we could watch the readings.. What sucks is the device cost 270 bucks..

Vince I think my problem may be the fact that my battery is in the back...and the TT wiring runs right by the batt feed line from the alternator. You never had the same problems. I bet if I stuck with this and did som more shielding and better routing or wires it might go away. But of course I like the current setup better now.

You are correct. I never had the same problem, but you may be right about your battery feed line.. The only way to test the tuner again is to put your new one on Dan's car and see if it works on the spray for a long period of time..
