Default 96 C4 Corvette Questions

i ran into one on 49th street north today and it was pretty stout.

the driver said it had a grand sport engine which was not what the stock C4's came with.

can anyone confirm this...and tell me what kinda 1/4 miles they run...

i ran him from a roll and he pulled about a car length on me...he said it ran "12.9's to 13 teens."

Some others know vette facts more than me...but I believe all 96 manual cars came with the LT4 engine. Which is a stout combo from the factory. 330 hp and low 13s stock.

Grand sports ran low 13's on average at arond 107mph. Usually had 2 1/2 foot stripes down the left fender. Blue ones had white racing stripes down the middle.
Mean car with lots of potential.

GM gave its engineers free reign to "hot rod" the LT1 for 1996. This high performance 350 would hopefully fill in the gap between the LT5 and the LS1. GM also created two special versions of the 1996 Vette, namely the Grand Sport (1,000 Admiral Blue/white stripe were built, all of which were LT4- equipped) and the Collector Edition (5,412 Sebring Silver were built, 2,009 of which were LT4-equipped). However, all 1996 Corvettes with manual transmissions were produced with the LT4, while the automatics were only produced with the LT1.

Got this from a Vette info site. Ive seen that info before.

This is correct. all 1996 manual = LT4 , all 1996 automatic = LT1
