WTR Corvettes DPs sell after auction
Wednesday, 05 October 2016
Wayne Taylor Racing's championship-winning Corvette Daytona Prototypes did not sell during the eBay auction held prior to Petit Le Mans, but the team reports both of the Dallara-built cars were acquired by a private bidder after the auction closed.

With the minimum bid set at $500,000 for race chassis No. 003 and the spare chassis No. 004, which was used for wind tunnel testing, the target sale price of $700,000 for the pair on the popular auction site did not materialize.

Immediately following the auction, however, a familiar name from the industry emerged to purchase the cars for an undisclosed sum.
"Mike Gue from Essex Racing sold them on our behalf, so both of them have been spoken for and will be delivered in the next week or two," Wayne Taylor told RACER. "The cars certainly did us well. We enjoyed a lot of success, and they represented our first long-term collaboration with Dallara."
With General Motors set to continue in IMSA's WeatherTech SportsCar Champion Prototype class in 2017 with the new Daytona Prototype international formula, Dallara is expected to make Cadillac-branded P2s available for most of its current Corvette DP entrants.
"We enjoyed lots of wins with a lot of great partners with us – Velocity Worldwide, Konica Minolta, Chevrolet among them, so in that sense it's a little sad," Taylor said of the DP era coming to a close last weekend. "But we've got to look forward and we're very, very excited about what the future holds for us starting next year."
And with the buyer expecting to receive the cars in mint condition, Jordan and Ricky Taylor, along with endurance teammate Max Angelelli, did a fine job of avoiding major contact on the way to third place in the car's swan song at Petit Le Mans.
