Default engine ID help

There is a shipping carrier close to my house which sells damaged, lost or unpaid for frieght. They have two cadillac northstar engines there, I was wondering how to ID the northstars which came with a forged crankshaft. I thought the earlier ones had a forged crank then they downgraded it.

There is also a GM motor there that has 4.5L on the intake. It looks similar to an LS motor, it has an aluminum block, cast heads, roller cam, has aluminum valve cover which have v8 stamped in and colored red. has a spot for a gear driven distributor on the back of the intake. Just wondering if this motor has any performance potential.
