Default Suggestions for upgrades: where to start?

Hey TR,
I got a Bone stock 2003 Cavalier Base model. I am looking to start upgrading the bits with aftermarket pieces, but i am totally lost on where to start. I know before i go adding hp to the car i need to upgrade the brakes and such, so where would be a good point to start?
Thanks

Step 1. Sell cavalier.

Step 2. Buy performance car if you want to go fast.

Step 3. Enjoy not having wasted money/time on a cavalier.

I could understand modding a cavalier if your doing a fully built engine heads/cam with a power adder so you could have fun beating stock mustangs and all... but if your talking about buying just exhaust, intake, and maybe throwing a shot of nitrous on it then I'd advise against modding it.. Car was not designed to handle any kind of power.. The intake and exhaust mods you probably won't even feel.

Pick a different platform to start modding. Cavalier has a weak non rigid chasis, weak engine, weak transmission, no suspension, average brakes, low build quality.
You'd be building an entire new car to make it better.

ecotec's are very potent motors when done right but unless you plan on going deep into it I'd just enjoy the car as transportation

agreed. the cavi can be fast if you plan to spend some money and time working on it. got a buddy who has one with intake and header. my stock V6 S10 walks on it. so it all depends on what you have in mind as a goal.

welll since you already have it...

where do you want to end up ultimately...and be realistic...you wouldnt be on here asking this question if you knew how to make it go 9's or 10's...but mid high 12's we can help you with.

but get ready to go deep...the engine internals are bullshit for anything more then 180-200whp with longevity.
