Possible motor swap
LS1 Coupe,
I am already spraying 100 shot on the stock block. I am not convinced the block is going to live if I push it much more. Maybe I'm wrong.

What is good price? The crank is stock but the rods & pistons have been replaced. Big cam, big carb. Yes you are right, his powerglide is much better for the strip than my T56

your block is stronger than a 400 block all day long. it would be safe to upgrade the pistons, some stock pistons have lasted for years some not so long.
without knowing more about the heads, valve train, carb, ignition etc its hard to tell value. but i wouldnt pay more than 2500 or so.
go on racingjunk.com and look at engines ..mikey acidcyn was selling his fully built engine for 8gs and thats a bowtie block, callise magnum crank, carrillo rods,brodix-10 heads with a ton of work and so on..so u can deff find better deals then this one
and he must be setup for an 1/8 mile then with his combo..with 1/4 gears its probley a mid 6s engine

save yourself some money, convert the LT1 to carb (they make kits) get some nice AFR 220's or something to that effect, get someone to build you a bottom end PROPERLY. and you can run a 150 wet plate and a 200 direct port all day long on it. you can make it much more street friendly and spray the extra power when you need it....personally i would suggest going to automatic in this transistion aswell your not going to make use of any of this power if you cant go 1.3's
or ...if all else fails...find some ported stock LT1 heads, build a decent bottom end, and turbo the car. PT76GTQ will give you nice spool up, and put you right at 600-650rwhp at about 10psi with a 355. and stockish heads

he could go that route to..just dont run the plate and then a fogger..there a pain in the ass to tune..and i've been told by some of the top n2o guys to just run 2 fogger setups..

So I guess the answer is NO on getting the 400 SBC.
Now, back to the LT1. I don't think I will rebuild the block until I have problems with it. However, I do want to be a solid 11 sec car. I also want to do it without having to spray 180 shot. Even though that would do it. 12.4 now + another 80 of N2O should make 11s no problem. Things I haven't done to my car are cutout, electric water pump, larger throttle body. Any comments?
But, so I know. Do I need to go 4 bolt?
