LS1 Z28 Speed Limiter???
Carl the 3rd gens got different clusters not on the engine option but on the trim option, ie Z28 always got the better cluster than the RS even thought the RS had the option of the 305.

This is what I found on a good FAQ for the 4th Gens. and also found supporting evidence. And this is why I'm confused. Either way, what's the cheapest way to raise or get rid of it? I'm taking this car to road-track track days and would be sitting on the limiter all day with it.
Q: Which cars came with the speed limiter and 115 MPH speedometer?
A: All cars that came with stock touring tires (Good Year Eagle GA 235/55R16) were speed limited to 108 MPH. In addition, they got a 115 MPH speedometer. Cars opting for the QLC package (Good Year Eagle 245/50ZR16 GS-C tires) or the QFZ package (Good Year Eagle 245/50ZR16 RS-A tires, available in 1995 and after), automatically got the 155 MPH speedometer and did NOT have a speed limiter. This is because GS-Cs and RS-As are Z-rated for speeds over 165 MPH. Any car leaving the factory with a Z-rated tires, should also have the 155 MPH speedometer and no speed limiter.
*Q: Is there a speed limiter on the LS1 cars?
A: For the cars that do not have the GS-C or RS-A tires, then they have a 123 MPH speed limiter. For the people who ordered the performance cars their speed limiters were set to 162 MPH and given the 155 MPH speedometer. There is no known way to bypass the 162 MPH speed limiter.

And Bart how does that RWD and torque feel? Having a hard time keeping the car straight?

Not true. I had a 305 RS (92) and it had the SAME cluster (115) as my 305 Z (91). Ive drove quite a few 350 Zs from 91 and 92 and they had the 150 speedo. The 305 Zs and the 305 RS got the same speedo.
Wow, I never thought about the tire dictating rev limits, but that makes sense. My '96 3.8L Camaro did 125mph and was climbing before my passenger asked me to slow down. I guess it was factory installed with some Z-rated tires.
yep... you beat me to it...
also the v6 cluster said the same mph but rpm red lined a 1000 higher than the 115mph v8 clusters.
also a friend has a 93 z28 that had a 115 speedo because of the tires. i didn't think they still did that with the ls1's thou because mine came with the crapy rsa's and wasn't limited.
it should be as simple as having someone that does tuning, remove the limiter.
