im not 16 anymore... not a lot older but a lil wiser (19). i do plan on getting some tires for my stock wheels mainly because they are a lot lighter than my new rims. imma stick with these new rims though, not because i got tons of money to play with but i really want the car to look good before i make it faster.

i saw u had a link for ur 93 firebird deacon but no pics?... i have been thinking about putting the lt1 on "the bottle" just because its quick, easy and a lot cheaper. i have always believed in not fixing something unless its broke so ill let the 200+k mile engine take a shit before i get it rebuilt and upgrade some internals. i honestly do not have the knowledge, time, money or equipment to put a turbo on this car. equipment is prob the biggest thing. i cld get the money and figure it out with some time.i have read some instructions and seen some lt1's on the net with turbo, but then i go to my car, open the hood, and see no space to put anything else in the engine compartment. i know the space is there but like i said, i just dont have the knowledge at this point.

im going to take some pics of my car tomorrow because this is going to be a work in progress and i wld like to see the progression i've made in a couple of months.

dont kid yourself, there is no space there. to turbo your pulling your a/c out, and running exhaust through out the engine bay. why do ya think so many people just do rear mounted turbos lol

hell my ac doesnt work anyways. it has a slow freon leak. i've tried to fix it with stop and detect leak stopper but doesnt work. ive gotten so use to it that i have considered just taking the ac system out.

like i said i dont know much bout turbos so i didnt know u could have a rear mounted turbo. ill look around to see if i can find a lt1 set up with a rear mounted turbo. hopefully learn some stuff.

theres plenty of room in 4th gens..once u mod the shit out of the engine compartment.after u do that theres just as much room as any other camaro or even more.

u can cut the over hang on the fire wall back about 6 inches and then get the extended hood from vfn and trim it to fit,u also can cut the fender wells some to clear headers..this is what the big block guys do,u can also cut the front of the car apart and then mover the rad over and forward about 4 to 6 inches an mount it diff to free up room.

theres a ton of tricks but an lt1 on a 175 or 200 shot setup right will run some 7s in the 1/8

thanks for the info. got me very interested actually. one question about that ststurbo... since your intake is coming from all the way at the back of the car do you lose any boost in comparison to a traditional front mounted turbo that is right next to the engine? if so is it enough to notice. i read all the pros and not so many cons of the turbo on the site but didnt see anything about that.

you dont lose boost pressure, it just takes longer to achieve a certain pressure. boost is dictated by your wastegate spring...it runs off a vacuum/boost signal on the intake side. once a certain pressure is attained the waste gate opens and dumps excess exhaust to hold the pressure steady.

the unintercooled rear mount is similar to a front mounted turbo with an intercooler.

they do have their pro's and cons though. the exhaust gas cools somewhat before it makes it back there, so a smaller exhaust housing is used. and its somewhat easy to steal being right under the car and all.

i would have to get something to make the exhaust come out on both (drive and passenger) sides after the point of the turbo right? from the pics it looks like it only gives you one final exhaust pipe... (passeger side)
...ugly....
