Default LT1 problems v.837465929384

So my car is idling like shit, and won't accelerate worth a damn. It sits there and misses/sputters at idle, and trying to get up to speed on the highway is a nightmare because it misses/sputters/shakes and won't accelerate. It's been narrowed down to an ignition problem (the distributor signals are all over the place, and two spark plug wires are arcing like crazy)...I suppose it's the faggot Opti, but I just had my ignition system replaced about a year ago and I refuse to believe it's the same problem....

So I nurse it over to Pontiac, and they tell me I need new plugs/wires/distributor/etc. which is what I halfway expected....what i didn't expect is that they want over $2,000 to fix it...so my question is, has anyone ever experienced this problem, are there any second opinions on what it could be, and does $2000 sound right for a plug/wire/distributor change?...I'll light the fucking car on fire before I put anything close to $2000 in it.

thanks ahead of time for any input....

You can pick up an Opti for around $200 bucks, wires for aboout 50.00 and plugs for 30.00 or so. You do the math.

i can get you a GM opti at cost, since yours is vented, 240.02 shipped with new vac lines as well.
wires...you can get MSD 8.5's for 80 bucks, plugs...30-40 bucks, 10 bucks for coolant. if you have the original water pump on there...may as well spend the money and get a new one since its gotta come off anyways...and get a new belt, thats 40 bucks at the dealer, probably 20 at cost and can be shipped with the opti at the same time.
lemme know if you wanna get it, ill PM you the number. shipping is automatically UPS ground, but you can request faster shipping at your will and payment.

again, do the math. if you want help, formulas offer is cool, ill be glad to help you out too...the wires and plugs are more of a PITA than the opti is believe it or not.

damn phinger, 30-40 for plugs?

you need to stop buying those overpriced brands, NGKs are cheap and the best for like 10-15 bucks

2000 sounds about right for a full ignition system parts/labor estimate. might as well convert to coil packs/trigger system imo.

btw, cheapest opti is Dal Slagbaugh(sp?) at Vandervere Olds. bout $195, i would say jason cromer, but he is in state and still gotta pay tax.
