Well after finding out what happened to Vince's (Datruth) car I thinking about getting a bellhousing. But I found some tranny blankets. It's more of a weight issue than money. Now I know that the blankets are design to wrap around the tranny not the bellhousing but would it be ok incase of any breakage to the flywheel/clutch/input shaft if I wrap it around the belhousing? I checked and I don't technically need a any tranny safetly equipement until 11.49 or faster. Any thoughts? Thanks. -Mark

A tranny blanket isnt going to contain the parts like a bellhousing will. It all adds up to... what are your legs worth? A few pounds and dollars?

 

Carl- no legs mean less weight. I know what you saying, didn't know a blanket can't contain something breaking through the bellhousing. How strong is a scattershield then? -Mark

The blanket is just some material like Kevlar or something to "help" contain it. A bellhousing is actually supposed to keep the parts inside so thats why they are so heavy. They are alot thinker than a stock piece. The McLoud bellhousing that just came out for use is like a 6.1 cert... Its completely enclosed. You have to bolt a plate to the block and bolt the bell to the plate.
