at any rate.....

L98 really need a better intake. Ive known ppl that ahve ported stock ones and gotten decent times, but a better intake is not cheap either. My boss orginal combo for 88 vette was a 383 stroker with self ported L98 alumn heads/intake/factory headers with a cam, roller rockers, throttle body, other few bolts on with DRs was a 12.2@108 I believe. This was back when lt1 were still fairly new and strokers werent even the big rage yet either.
l98's should use the lt1 intake , 35 hp gains.

I allways found that just a teeny tiny bit of good ole Nitrous Oxide wakes them bad boys up the best.

As for cams, the most popular off the shelf cams are the lt4 hotcam and cc305 (pretty mild) to the cc306 and GM847 (heafty) a few guys like joe overton and lloyd elliot make customs that are pretty stout.
Stock LT1 heads flow right around 200-210cfm and peaking around .500 lift. The 180, 195, 210, 215 numbers for the AFR heads are the intake port volume, not cfm numbers.

Default mods

well, since I'm about to do my L98..

TPiS MiniRam Intake - this is a single piece intake/manifold WITHOUT runners.
52mm Throttle Body
Custom Intake
30# Injectors
Heads
Cam
Pistons
Fresh Stock Block & Crank

The best thing for an L98 is a new intake.

If you can give common aftermarket heads, cams, lids, filters, throttlebodies, etc.. I get asked these questions all the time. I am sure we have a wealth of knowledge out there. We just need to share..

Isn't that a little bit like asking..."Will someone please summarize quantum physics in 1200 words or less please????"

But let me try anyway......

The more it costs and the neater it looks, the beter it'll work.
