Default those knowledgeable about LS6 heads

How much machining and polishing work goes into a stage II LS6 head. What I'm trying to ask is how hard it would be to machine by oneself. My dad owns and runs a machine shop with many CNC machines. He said it wouldn't be hard to do. What exactly would need to be done. Does anybody have stock numbers, and after numbers of the intake and exhaust ports? What else would need to be opened up besides the i/e ports? If I did a h/c I would be looking for 450+ rwhp with a 23x/24x 600/610 114 lsa cam. any input?

I wouldnt touch it. One LITTLE thing can make or break it and I wouldnt want to ruin a $1200 set of heads. Valve job, port volume, port shape, chamber CCs, valve back cut all play a HUGE factor on a head.

You can have the heads milled there...thats not a biggie. But the rest is more art than machine work. Or its more specific type machine work to heads. Like a specific machine for doing valve jobs. To use a CNC machine to do porting requires first a very skilled porter to do it by hand...get good results with a port they like...then transfer that info digitally inot the CNC machine. Then the CNC machine cranks out exact copies at a higher rate of speed. But you cant just put heads in a CNC machine and have it port heads. Youd be better off doing it yourself.

Dont let anyone other than a proven shop touch the LS6 heads. Futral, TEA, CNC thats about the only places i would go.

Porting heads is easy. Just grab a grinder and make the hole bigger. I do it all the time.
