I was thinking about getting the Hooker Shorty headers. You got the long tubes with a Y pipe. Whats better? Shortys will hook right back up to the stock exhaust right?

Its also Automatic

I love my longtubes. My exhaust combo has worked well to me. Have had a couple on and this seems to be the best. Ive just installed a NOS wet kit with a 75 shot, so im looking foward to seeing what it will run

shorties are a waste imo

just go mid/longtube

mids will cost less and come with a y-pipe, difference between mids and longtube (depending on existing mods) isn't very large

I've seen pacesetter mids with a off-road y-pipe for $250

as far as exhaust goes, id spend the 300 on the non-emission pacesetter longtubes. hit up autozone or something for their ceramic coat paint. coat your headers inside as best you can, and do the outside. and if your oven is big enough (mine is barely) use a clothes hanger to hold the header upright. keep it on preheat, and leave it at about 450 for an hour. you now have your coated long tubes for ~$304.92 before tax.

if anyone questions this method, i did this to my intake piping, as it sat very close to the exhaust manifold, and i saw an average drop of 6-10 degrees. all the variables were practically identical, nothing other than the coating could have made a temp change such as that.

I always am open to suggestions, since you say shorties are a waste of money, can I ask why? Just kinda like Pros & cons of it. I am saving up for headers now, so I want to know lol. Thanks

it only increases the flow of a small section of exhaust, the porting is minimally larger than stockers

also for the price you can buy better mids with a free CATLESS y-pipe for like 20 bucks over shorties

kinda late I guess, but when I first got my 95 and it was bone stock, I ran 8.5-8.9's all day long..and that's a convertible/automatic, which is prob the slowest trans-am they build
