put a bigger gear in it. 4.10s are pretty sweet and were OEM on a few years models. not like it gets great milage anyways. i had them in my ole s15 GMC Jimmy. otherwise it is a low performance engine. i doubt opening the catback is worth it.
probably at its milage, new fuel filter, new air filter, and plugs/wires will help out the most.

I have an '01 S10 that I was looking for simple mods for. There really aren't any mods that are worth the money for these. Programmers, TB spacers, pulleys, may get you 5hp a piece if you're lucky. Catback exhaust as well, but with that, you get the added benefit of a shitty sounding truck to drive everyday. I'd say gears would be the best bang for the buck, but you'll need to have it programmed after doing so, so that's not even cost effective.
hmm so looks like I will add a cold air or filter or w/e and prob call it a day!! thanks Fordified thats the answer i was looking for

wow it seems that not everybody knows what a 4.3 is. Did any of you know that a 4.3 is a 350 with the back 2 cyl cut ? NO. ok a 4.3 stock will beat worked civics all day long i know . OK the most free mod is to advance you distributor like 10 degrees ok then you gap the plugs a little more so your gettin more spark and a better burn . Thats like 5 more horse power ok then you go to auto zone get the edlebrock intake ok thats even better more flow another 5. If you want to spend the money get a msd ignition and a 1500 stall converter with a camaro tranny .
OH AND BY THE WAY IN ABOUT 2 MONTHS I WILL HAVE A 4.3 THAT WILL EAT LT1 I DONT CARE WHAT YOU HAVE YEAH A 4.3 WITH 350RWHP!!!!!!! (THINK ABOUT THAT)

dsm knows his shit. thats all i got to say......in this case, jake, you need to weld 2 cylinders onto the 4.3 and then you will have a 350. makes sense to me.
i esp liked the 1500 stall idea. my yank 4000 sucks.

Dont hate because i can pull 300 hp out of a 4.3 while your still sporting your stock 95 bird dont get me wrong they are fast, quit hating.
I sure hope im not going to have to go into details
Forged pistons
Block bored 30
195 intake, 170 exhaust stainless valves, three angled valve job
100 lb valve springs
FULL roller valve train 1.5 roller rocker (non self guiding)
lunati street-strip cam shaft 150 lift
full dual exhaust H-pipe 3 inch all the way
Dynotech black hedders
Edelbrock throttle body intake and chip with a 650 cfm t/b
timing gears by cloyes
1,500 stall so i can still drive it to work everyday.
Any Questions??
