Do you have long tube headers?

If you are going to do a cam swap you will need at a minimum:

cam
hardened pushrods
gaskets
valve springs
should also do rockers
Considering the mileage, a new timing set
and a good tune.

Your gains will not be that great unless you also get good heads and headers/exhaust.

Be ready to spend the money to do it right the first time, a grand isn't going to do it.

Ive got hooker longtubes with a hooker Y-pipe. If a grand doesnt do it then i guess we save for a little longer. If i do i will do it right... And TheShow, My eigth mile times are as good as alot of cammed and intake 5.0's with basic bolt ons. Just think what a cam kit and mani would do to it

The point I was making was you should also do the heads. LT1's don't respond to cam only the way an LS1 does. And there will be add ons like timing set etc.

Not as much as you'd think, the heads are the part of the engine holding you back. A cam will help with higher rpm power, but you'll definately lose some low end.

Camed and intake 5.0s are the same way, you can have the biggest and baddest cam and intake in the world, but in the end, your still trying to pull incredible amounts of air/fuel through a straw.
