Tampa Racing has changed as well as the car scene.
Not dead as far as I know.
Sat morning there is a free breakfast, if you care to join us.

There will be 2500 cars at Simply Clean, and many more events going on.

We are having Track Days and Trail Days at the FIRM and the totally free open house was a few weeks ago. In 2015, there was only one track day per month at the FIRM.

TR is up to 102,752 members as of about a week ago.

A little like the New York Times, TR measures success by number of readers and not by number of letters to the editor.
Hundreds of people come to TR every night to see what's new.

We had some buttheads led by REY, leave TR to start their own site, but their most popular
thread was "What I hate about Tampa Racing".......and that does not build membership.
REY had asked TR members what suggestions we had to improve TR, and took the suggestions
with him when he bailed out of TR.

The good news is that REY and the buttheads took most of the other jerks with them. They left a bunch of links all over TR advertising their site, but Tee Cee Sss did not pay their bills and died officially months ago.....after they tore down the TR banners at the drag strips in St Pete and Bradenton months ago.

Most number of readers on their site was 90 at one time.
Since then TR has had thousands at one time and hundreds every night.

TR has some National sponsors who don't want their ad being next to some
cussing punk, so language has been cleaned up. The champagne room has been cleaned up.

TR is more of a road racing club than drag racers and our articles:

Formed years ago, Tampa Racing.com was founded on the principles of encouraging restoration, repair or modification of special interest vehicles. Over 102,700 members strong, Tampa Racing has no national affiliation, but you will likely find its members among any number of automotive organizations including the National Street Rod Association, Mustang Club of America, Goodguys, Florida Mopar Association, Corvette Club of America, to name a few. The type of vehicles found amongst the members varies from restored early 1900's vintage automobiles, to street rods from the 30’s and 40’s, to muscle cars from the 60’s and 70’s, to present day front-wheel-drive imports and motorcycles. With the wide range of vehicles come varying degrees of modifications from bone stock to big block Pro Street monsters. There truly is something to satisfy every automotive taste.

As with the vehicles there are varying activities that the members undertake ranging from weekly cruise nights and car meets, to cruises through the countryside, cookout get-togethers, Christmas parties, open track days, organized races, beach concerts and frequent car shows. Bob, why don't you run a Tampa Racing Facebook group co-currently with the TR Forums? It would not take much effort and could direct traffic back to the forum as Facebook's rules and structure are restrictive towards certain content.

You are correct about the car scene shifting.
Your fbk idea sounds like a good idea.

Facebook is somewhat fragile as far as shutting down an account, and then a person has to go
appeal to fbk, and it's like dealing with 17 year olds.
The jerks who tried to destroy TR would continue to shut down the TR fbk account.

I emailed the people who held the passwords to TR's fbk and they would not help at all.
They wanted to be sure no one would resurrect TR's fbk. They left links all over TR to send people to their own site. They used their dual memberships to send PM's insulting and discouraging
new people coming to TR. The links are long ago removed and the jerks who posted them also
have been removed.

Tee Cee Sss long ago went under. Their site had no content and no one stayed. They had been telling me to quit posting and membership would increase, and they were saying it was because of me that people were being driven away. I did not take advice from people who wanted to see failure. It has turned out that my continually posting interesting things kept TR growing. 1,053 members as of 11 Nov 2017, and TR is at 102,754 members.

Some of TeeCeeSss had dual memberships and used that to insult new members at TR to drive them to their site. Some of those dual members are still coming to TR, and as long as they behave themselves, I don't mind that they join the hundreds every night who read TR's forums.

I have worked pretty hard so far and don't plan to take on another fbk site that
the jerks can instantly shut down again.........but I do thank you for the suggestion.
